Bruce Melville (University of Auckland) On CitiIQ

CitiIQ represents a significant step forwards in quantifying city development. The tool is a thorough examination of everything that makes a city successful, presenting the information in a way that reflects the latest understanding of the way that cities function. The tool is based on a wide review of the construction of composite indexes, standardized indicators and theory of urban systems. It introduces new mathematical techniques to the normalization and aggregation of data sources, enabling it to effectively capture the complex nature of the interconnected subsystems of cities. CitiIQ will provide city leaders with a holistic view of their city and the ability to quickly and effectively identify issues as presented through the framework of the tool.
