CitiIQ Launches “Canada100” to Measure Canadian Cities

Common Scoring Framework Empowers Local Decision-Making and National Collaboration

Toronto, Ontario – CitiIQ, a Canadian company specializing in city data and measurement, has launched the “Canada100”, a bold, national initiative providing objective, comprehensive scoring of 100 Canadian cities. The CitiIQ measurement service uses a cloud-based dashboard to visualize the data and scores for the 35 most important elements of a city’s wellbeing, infrastructure, and sustainability.

The Canada100, makes it easier for cities to access and apply meaningful data to guide local decisions and priorities, develop policy, track progress, and participate in a broader, collaborative movement to strengthen communities across the country.

Canada100 is designed to equip cities with a practical, easy-to-use system that clearly shows where they stand and what they can do to improve. It provides a common measurement language that unlocks better decisions locally and enables shared learning nationally.

Clients are now able to subscribe to any number of Canadian cities of interest.

Standardized Measurement, Local Impact

With 107 urban indicators updated quarterly, “Canada100” offers cities a ready-made measurement framework that reduces the complexity and cost of building and developing a home-made system from scratch. Cities receive consistent, reliable assessments of their performance in areas such as health, education, transportation, environment, safety, and governance.

This standardized approach delivers key advantages:

·       Ease of Access – Cities gain immediate access to a quality measurement system.

  • Track and report on:

    • 107 Urban Indicators

    • 35 Considerations (the most important elements of any city)

    • 5 Human-Centric Dimensions (Basic Needs, Competitiveness, Opportunity, Livability, Destiny)

    • A single city score

  • Converts raw data into scores out of 100 for ready understanding and comparison.

  • Local Empowerment – Leaders can use evidence-based insights to set priorities and track improvements over time.

  • Tracks SDG’s and provides a starting point for a municipal VLR

Looking Beyond Local

While “Canada100” enhances local decision-making, it also opens the door for collaborative learning across the country. With every city measured using the same indicators and methodology, participants can:

  • Facilitate benchmarking and collaboration among cities nationally and regionally.

  • Discover effective strategies through shared success stories.

·       Accelerate progress by applying proven solutions from similar communities.

A Stronger National Picture

By offering this common framework, CitiIQ is helping build a consistent national data landscape, one that supports municipal, provincial, and federal collaboration. “Canada100” also creates a clear line of sight between local performance and national or global commitments, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Establishing a measurement baseline before launching major initiatives also ensures cities can track societal impacts and visualize improvements with clarity and accountability.
